And we’re off! Here’s the first page of Issue #3.
The convention was VERY interesting. It was a financial bust, but an artistic success beyond my wildest dreams. I didn’t sell a darned thing, but that’s okay. There’s plenty of time for that. What I did do was manage to meet, and get some personal, individual time from, the pro artist Rodney Ramos. He was generous with his time, and spent about half an hour giving me a drawing lesson, one I’ll never forget. He recommended some books, which I bought as soon as I got home, and will be practicing from as soon as I’ve finished reading them. They’re a bit advanced for me, but I’ll work into them — I got a more intermediate one at the same time to use to catch up.
This is what I’ve been finding so rewarding about conventions – not the financial side, but the part where I meet such wonderful people, and learn new and challenging things. It’s rich and wonderful and I hope it never stops.
Uh…glad I’m not him…. Maybe that goes without saying. (Grin.)
Might have been a financial failure in the short term, but trust me – the visibility and the connections you made are gonna be worth way more than whatever cash might have crossed your table that weekend.
