Busy, busy, busy!

Well, the final page of the first volume, Weak Interaction, is in the can.  You’ll all see that next week.  I’ve got my work cut out for me now.  I need to do some cleanup, get the earlier pages in a shape I’m happier with, do a back cover, some inside covers, and improve the front cover.  Then I can kick it off to the printer.

I also haven’t been idle on Volume 2.  I’ve been building scenery, lining up extras, arranging for backgrounds, and writing scripts like mad for the past few weeks.  In the words of Christopher Lloyd, it’s going to be glorious.  But in order to do it properly, I’d like a week or so to concentrate on it.

So if you would like to do some guest art for me, I’d really appreciate it.  Just send me a note to “quarktime+guestart” at gmail dot com and let me know, and we’ll work out details.

Small Wonder

I wanted to let you all know that I got a wonderful addition to my accessibility tools as a gift this weekend! My wonderful lifemate gave me a delightful 7″ USB monitor as an accessory to my workstation. This Mimo UM-710S USB Monitor rotates between landscape and portrait mode, works as an additional monitor under Vista and other operating systems, and lets me run my productivity tools on the side so I’m not forever digging under my artwork to find things.

I put my Google Chat, Winamp, and Workrave RSI timer on it, so I don’t have to have them on my main screen. I can even put a small video popout there, or shrink a Second Life screen and move it there so I can idle and keep an eye on any messages that might come in while I’m working. It helps me handle interruptions more smoothly, and keeps my level of tension down. Lower tension and stress means less pain and easier work!

Remember, no comic this week, but I had to share this great gift with you! All of you currently in the Northeast U. S. and being buried by the blizzard, stay safe!

News of the Day

I’ve been busy. I have all of the reference art shot, and shots assigned to each panel of the remaining pages of Volume 1. You know what this means?

Well, it means right off that Volume 2 is just around the corner, that goes without saying. But even more to the point, it means that Volume 1 gets to go to print. I’m rebooting my old small-press company, Revolution Earth Press, as my new graphics imprint, to handle all of my current, and *fingers crossed* future comic endeavors, and have started getting the new site designed so I can get it up and running.

When the last page of Volume 1 is up on the webcomic, while furiously creating the pages for Volume 2, I’ll also be prepping Volume 1 to go to press. Watch this space.

Neil Gaiman’s “The Price” Kickstarter Needs Love

There’s a very worthy little project over on Kickstarter that could use a bit of assistance. Christopher Salmon is a film producer who would like to do a revolutionary animation project of Neil Gaiman’s short story “The Price”, and is using Kickstarter to gather the funds for it. He’s hit the halfway point, but he only has 8 more days to get the other half. It’s a really cool looking project, it’s a great story, and his techniques are really interesting. I’d love to see this get made. He has some great people promising to help him, and some more would be even better. Pop on over to Kickstarter, take a look at the video describing the project, and if you feel you can back it, even ten bucks will help.

Top Web Comic Voting

In case you all haven’t noticed, there’s a little button on the lower right, below the comic, for Top Web Comic’s top 100 comics. It’s a voting button, that you can use to give feedback once per day on what you think of the comic. Even if the comic doesn’t update every day, you can help me out by visiting and clicking that button to vote. It makes my site more visible, and gets me some extra visitors. As a token of my appreciation, there’s a voting incentive picture up now, so you can have a nice Jenny wallpaper if you like. It’s a pretty “outtake” scene that I thought was cute.
